Course Access: Lifetime
Course Overview

Course Summary:

This 40+ hour course is designed to help students become familiar with the basics of becoming a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Certified Remote Pilot in Command (RPIC) and entering this growing field of commercial drone operations. In addition to ensuring the students feel fully prepared to take the FAR 107 certification exam, we want them to feel, upon receiving certification, comfortable and confident to safely fly and operate drones for personal or professional use. This course includes all portions of the 24+ hour course option and has two additional days of hands-on flying. The additional time allows for more advanced flying practice as well as autonomous and mapping exposure.

The course is not designed to compete with online platforms of study. This course offers much more because of knowledgeable and well-trained instructors with applicable experience, collaboration with the instructor and peers, and interactive learning activities to reinforce the retention and application of regulations all crafted to reflect the most up-to-date and proven research on teaching and learning. Online courses may help individuals study for and pass the FAR 107 exam, but we want students to have a much richer learning experience. With guidance from our expert UAS instructors, practical knowledge and experience will make students much safer and more confident. Hands-on flying experience and real-life application of learning these skills is a major part of our curriculum.

All course materials are available online through our online eLMS curriculum and the FAA website.  This Course Syllabus and Teacher Resource Materials provide a description of the course and learning objectives for each Unit of Training.
